Spice it up with a Zebra Rug!

It seems as if every design picture I'm attracted to lately features a zebra-skin rug!  Adding a touch of whimsy and sophistication to any room they are in, these great accent rugs have become ever-present in the design world.  We also happen to be featuring a zebra rug in the front of our store, in front of a tweed sofa and under the coffee table, layered on top of a Soumack rug.  Because hunting Zebras is frowned upon by many animal rights people, the majority of these rugs are a zebra design stenciled onto cowhide (which is what ours is).  Check out the pictures below to see how much pizazz this single accent rug adds to every room!

The rug (and the Marilyn Monroe artwork!) adds a touch of contemporary fun to this otherwise traditional room.

The artwork and the rug become the focal points in this otherwise neutral room.

An eclectic mix of tables, pops of color in the accessories, and the zebra rug create a warm and inviting setting.

How great this rug looks on top of the black and white tile floor!

Anchoring the ottoman in front of these two chairs, the rug becomes a more subtle accent in this room.

The glass-topped coffee table allows the rug to become the star player in this room.

Off to the side of the room, this rug makes even a secondary corner become an exciting part of the decor.

Layered on top of sisal, this rug "makes" the room ---- visualize it without the rug -----and it becomes a little boring!

Another great mix of contemporary and traditional, neutrals and Zebra!!

Two Great Events -- 2X the Fun!

It's once again time for one of our very favorite events of the year........Portobello Road Market!   We have been busy re-arranging the shop for an entirely new look and to make room for the great antiques our dealers will be bringing in.  Along with the amazing vintage items, we will be debuting  our exciting Fall and Halloween merchandise.  The event takes place this coming Saturday, August 18, from 9:00 a.m. (early opening time!) till 5:00 p.m. We will be serving English scones and shortbread with tea from 9:00 - 2:00,  and wine and cheese from 2:00 - 4:00.  You won't want to miss this very special event.  Come early for the best selection!   (We will be closing at noon on Friday, August 17 to display all the antiques.)

The other event coming up soon is one of the Luncheon Series at Beiger Mansion.  Taking place on two days, you may sign up for either August 30 or 31st.   Dennis Slade from Beiger Mansion says "It's in the Mix.....and that is just what we have done.  We are mixing up a great lunch, some good company, and helpful entertaining and decorating tips" from Dennis, including using antiques in your tabletop decor.  Make your reservations today and enjoy a fun afternoon where we share a meal and talk design!  Lunch, the seminar, and a 20% off coupon at Interiors Etc. for that day are included in the price of $25.00.  Call Interiors Etc. (574-259-7717) for reservations.

Fall is definitely our favorite time of the year, and these two events are the kick-off to a whole season of special events.  We hope to see you at all of them!

Visual Air-Conditioning

In this summer of 90 and 100 degree days, we can all use a little visual cooling.  And nothing feels cooler than walking into an all green and white room!  Green has always been one of my very favorite colors, and so decorating with it comes naturally for me.  I remember an article I read years ago by a famous designer ----stating that all shades of green blend together, a fact proven by looking outside at the grass, trees, and all the different plants that look wonderful mixed together by Mother Nature.  Why not do the same inside?  Following are some of my favorite rooms decorated cooly for the season in fresh green and white.

Special of the week:  For the dog days of summer, every item with a dog on it will be 25% off from August 6 - August 11.  Come check out the possibilities!
