"Mad about Plaid"

Does anyone do "Classic Cozy" better than Ralph Lauren??? These are some of my favorite pictures of his rooms ---maybe it's the plaid featured in each room. I've always been "mad about plaid"!

Time to Start your Holiday Decorating

Have you started decorating your home for the holidays yet? I usually try to get about half of my decorating at home done before Thanksgiving, and do the other half soon after. (Since I always have the family Thanksgiving at my house, I save the living room and dining room to do last for Christmas, so that I can feature the more apropos turkeys and pumpkins in the dining room that day!) I thought I'd share some pictures with you of my progress so far.

Above and below are pictures of my round foyer table as you first enter the front door. The velvet patchwork quilt is one that I purchased years ago, and the colors work wonderfully at Christmas. So I begin by topping the table with that, and then change the rest of the decor every year to feature something different. Since I've been on a silver "kick" lately, I started with a silver bowl full of vintage ornaments, a silver candelabra, and a couple of silver loving cups to fill with red roses or red tulips. A tall glass vase holds "faux" greens and sticks to give the needed height, next to a statue of a young girl, while some favorite Christmas books act as risers to stagger the other pieces. Vintage bead garland casually draped over several pieces adds to this "more is more" table!

Above and below is one corner of my den, where I put a small tabletop tree decorated in plaid ornaments, plaid ribbons, and vintage plaid postcards.

I put a "pencil" tree in one corner of my kitchen. And since I collect black transferware, and display it in the kitchen, I use a black and white theme in that room. Along with black and white ribbons and ornaments, the tree also holds part of my collection of vintage red baby shoes.

Here is the cupboard in that room holding the black and white transferware, decked out with a little swag of greenery, bows, and dangling ornaments.

Another small grouping on my kitchen counter, of tiny black and white plates, wicker jugs, and a red cyclamen grouped on a silver tray.

Greenery and ribbons decorate my pot rack, and amaryllis are be-decked with black and white bows.

In my guest room, I change the summer bedding to Christmas bedding, covered with amaryllis and Christmas birds, and complete the look with a grouping of red tole trays above the bed.

I'll share the rest of my holiday decorating with you as it progresses. Hope you're all having fun decking your home for the holidays...... If you need ideas, stop in and we'll be glad to help you add a few new items to your existing collection of holiday decor to make "home for the holidays" a very special place to be!

And no, we won't be opening at 4 a.m. tomorrow morning (thank goodness!) and we won't have any "door-buster" specials! But we will be open from 10:00 to 5:00 tomorrow and Saturday, serving holiday punch and cookies. So when you can't stand the traffic on Grape Road any longer or the crowds at the Mall are more than you can bear, come to Interiors Etc. and relax, have a glass of punch, and find something special for someone on your holiday list! Hope to see you then. And hope you all had a Happy, Blessed Thanksgiving.

Luncheons and Soirees

Since the first Holiday Luncheon at Beiger Mansion sold out in less than one week, Ron and Dennis have agreed to host a second luncheon.  It will take place on Friday, November 11 at noon, with the ticket price being $20.00 for the luncheon, including tax and gratuity,  a presentation of holiday decorating ideas by Dennis Slade, and a coupon for 20% off your purchases that day at Interiors Etc.  Our waiting list from the first luncheon filled half the tables, but there are still seats available.  Call Interiors Etc. at 259-7717 to make you reservations soon!  It's sure to be a lovely event.

Also, we will be having our Annual Dessert Soiree this Sunday, November 6 from noon till 4 p.m.  Harpist Meg Rodgers will be providing Christmas music, we will have many lovely desserts and champagne punch for your enjoyment, and everything (except antiques) will be 10%.   We have received several new items this week, plus we have also added some additional vintage items, so even if you attended the Christmas Open House, you won't want to miss the festivities this Sunday afternoon.  Hope to see you there!
