Tangerine Tango!

Pantone recently announced Tangerine Tango, a "vivacious, enticing hue", as its color of the year for 2012. "Sophisticated, dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it," said the executive director of the Color Institute. Although we've never used much orange in our decorating (at least, not recently ----- I do remember the kitchen in my first apartment featured orange, circa 1975!!), I loved some of the rooms featured in the following pictures that I found using that sunny, bright color.

Being such a strong color, it works well as an accent in an otherwise neutral room......for example, just one chair upholstered in a tangerine print in an otherwise neutral room.

Just a few throw pillows and a throw on a neutral sofa offer a pop of color.

Note how the entire color scheme of this room could be changed by just changing the accessories. Love the orange garden stool!

Opposites on the color wheel, orange and blue complement each other nicely.

Used as more than just an accent, here orange is used for draperies and an area rug, giving a lot of warmth to an otherwise neutral room.

Zebra skin and orange denote a more contemporary color scheme.

Horizontal stripes are my new favorite look in draperies!

Orange silk draperies and velvet throw pillows, picking up the color in the portrait above the fireplace, give this room a more formal feel.

Paisley drapes and orange cushions against a slightly peach wall give this room a warm glow.

Bold and daring, yet traditional!!

Orange roman shades in this breakfast room get every day off to a sunny start!

Warm and cozy, this room features a red-orange print for side panels and bamboo shades for privacy. The skirted sofa table gives an additional burst of orange.

And if you're really ready to commit to tangerine tango, paint the walls in this gutsy color!

Or better yet, wallpaper them in an orange pattern!

An easy and inexpensive way to get a touch of tangerine would be to paint the back of your bookshelves or a cupboard that color.

We have several new drapery and upholstery fabric books featuring shades of orange. And, or course, our designers are always ready to help you select a new paint color or find the perfect fabric, whether it is tangerine or any other color! Watch for touches of orange in our decor later this spring.

And this week, we have SOOOO much great new merchandise in the shop. Right now our dock is full every day with boxes to be unpacked, so stop in often.......the new things come and go quickly! We hope to see you soon.
