Portobello Road

Previewing Portobello Road

 In less than two weeks, we will be hosting our Portobello Road Market --- on Saturday, August 17.  While our spring (Paris Flea) Market celebrates the French look, the fall event definitely brings an English flavor to our store.  And most appropriately during the fall season-----for the English look is nothing if not cozy!  Just look at the English-style rooms here, and you'll see that the things they have in common are cozy clutter, a mix of lovely fabrics, and books, books, books!  As we relate to their cool, damp weather this August (!), we see that they use their homes as a warm retreat to snuggle in and read a good book.

Along with the antiques consigned by our five favorite dealers, our Portobello Road Market is also the debut of all of our new Fall merchandise recently selected at the Atlanta Market.  The store will open at 9 a.m. on that Saturday to give you an early start on your shopping.  And of course there will be English-inspired treats in the morning, and wine and cheese from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. ( We will close at noon on Friday, August 16 to put on all the finishing touches.)  Plan now to join us Saturday, August 17 for this very special event!  Here are several rooms done in that remarkable English style to inspire you and get you in the mood for our upcoming event.

Summer's New and Noteworthy

I can't believe that it's only a little more than a week until the Fourth of July!!  Where has June gone?   Just thought I'd let you know of a few new items in the store, and a few that are back in stock.

  We finally have the Luminara candles back in stock in all three sizes.  These have been so popular, and look exactly like a real flame.  On a timer and with a remote, they will go high on a shelf or mantel, and come on automatically when you want them to.

 Also, our most popular Stonewall Kitchen product is back in stock --- the spicy corn relish.  If you haven't tried this yet, you really should.  The very simple and delicious recipe that I make with this relish is to combine 1 chopped avocado, a can of drained black beans, 1 cup of halved cherry tomatoes, 1 jar of the corn relish, and 1 cup of either shredded mozarella or cheddar cheese.  So simple, but great to take to a potluck or picnic!  Try it for the Fourth of July, and we'll guarantee you'll get rave reviews.
